Free Vaccine Clinic At Casa Maria

AWASA is probably best known in the community for providing free spay neuters.

As part of our commitment to the animals in our community we also host two free vaccination clinics each year for animals in need.

2010 saw the first clinic. Veterinary services were provided by Dr. Forrer of Sunrise Veterinary Clinic and a total of 67 animals were given health checks and received vaccinations to protect them from parvovirus and rabies.

The second clinic on April 2, 2011 saw a much higher turnout of pet owners. Again Dr. Forrer volunteered her time, this time with her colleague Dr. Rademaker. A host of volunteers also arrived to help organize the owners, take health information on the animals and assist the veterinarians when necessary.

Since the date we started we have seen over 600 animals for wellness checks, and vaccines as well as owner education on tick control and spay/neuter opportunities. Five veterinarian groups and Pima Medical Institute have donated their services for this cause. To see who is helping visit our Thank You page.

Volunteers were also on hand to pass out free food and information on the Pet Fix program.
